Story Behind the Art:-
Hi, my name is Rajesh Gehlot and I come from the pink city Jaipur. I grew up in a family where family values, tradition and cultures mean a lot. I grew up and studied in Jaipur itself. It was fun growing up in this beautiful and colorful city. There was so much to explore as Jaipur has a rich historical story behind it. While still studying, I took up this small part time job to earn some pocket money. Since I was good in drawing, I worked as a sketch artist at one export house which dealt in leather goods and stone home dcor items. I worked there on a meager amount of 7 INR per hr. I used to sketch bags and they really liked my work. When they liked my work, they wanted to hire me permanently. So after I completed my studies in Bachelor of Arts, I joined them full time. With me they stated a new category of felt items. I started to help them design varied products by means of my sketching and it worked out well. In fact, in one of the exhibitions, my creation bagged the first prize from over almost 5000 entries. It was such a moment of pride for me. And we got the award from the then president of India. The owner of my company made me accept the award on the behalf of the company since I was the creator of the pieces that bagged the award. This was a great feeling of achievement for me. We worked together so well. My boss taught me a lot and I would say that whatever I have learnt so far, a lot of the credit goes to him too. But I always wanted to do something of my own. So, after spending almost 8 years with the same company, I started my own. It was a big challenge but I did not lose hope. Slowly, I hired people and teach them the work. We started participating in exhibitions and slowly but surely people started appreciating our work and today I am proud to say that although not in a big way but we are doing well. We specialized in holiday ornaments, home furnishing, carpets, wall hangings etc but so far holiday ornaments have been a big hit with our customers. Hopefully people will start liking out other range of products.
